Theresa:
We have another amazing topic to discuss today, which is The Milkshake of Consciousness.
Michael:
Well, that stirs up all kinds of things, doesn’t it?
Theresa:
(Laughs). Yes, it does. When you think of a milkshake, you think of adding all sorts of flavours – chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream, special and wonderful ingredients. We tapped into this topic through the idea of what happens when we help get people unstuck? And we worked in reverse order. From confusion to clarity – getting people unstuck. When you have something that is all stirred up – like in a milkshake – that can be confusing, but the end result can taste delicious…so there is a process of being stirred up or being confused that ends up in a good place. Today, we are talking about the steps we might take people through if they come to you and they feel stuck.
Michael:
That is remarkable – all of those elements you brought together through the Science of Mind teachings– what you think about you bring about. And the short circuit here is…We are thinking about a milkshake… that’s the dream – the milkshake! We know the ingredients of the milkshake, but to touch that dream, to create that milkshake you can’t just think it, you can’t just dream it…there is a point in the process where you select the flavour…there is part of the process of consciousness – making a choice.
And the word con-scious to me the letters CON – like chili con carne – con means with…and ‘scious’ means choice…or knowledge…so conscious means “with choice”. So you end up making a choice. What flavour? You’ve got to have some syrup. Maybe some nuts and whipped cream. Great. You’ve got the thought you are holding in consciousness. You’ve gone through the process of selecting the ingredients and you are going to have to use the process of treatment in Science of Mind.
To create that milkshake, you can’t just dream it, you can’t just think it. You have to select the flavour – strawberry, chocolate, vanilla – make a choice – part of the process of consciousness, is making a choice…
You are going to have to use a treatment, call it forth, but also move your feet.
So TREAT and move your feet. You will have to go to the store, buy the ingredients, make a choice. How much ice cream? How much milk, to your selection, to your preference? Put it in the blender and stir it up. So from that ungroundedness, that lostness. What do I do? You begin by holding it in consciousness, imagine it, and listing the ingredients… You go through the process of listing the ingredients necessary…
Theresa:
Just a sec. I wonder if this is where people kind of lose the motivation. They have the idea, it is in their brain, it is in their consciousness somewhere. . It just stays there…it doesn’t move? But they haven’t shifted? They just keep thinking about it…but they don’t action… it is in their brain like the hamster in the wheel. They don’t take action? Is that it?
Michael:
Absolutely. Actionizing…taking it into action. We can share some of the experience with our blog. We really began with an idea. This began as a 20 minute blog, and it unfolded into having so much fun and we took it forward. It unfolded. You moved forward, you did something. You went online and created a blog. You did something. I created business cards. I did something. You can ask people for help with the simple steps. You can ask someone at your congregation.
Theresa:
Take simple steps. It doesn’t have to be so huge that people become daunted.
Michael:
Yes. It doesn’t have to be complicated. This stuff is simple, but not easy.
Theresa:
So going back to the milkshake, it is actually easy to put everything into the blender. But people still have to make a choice. If people don’t make a choice, they don’t get to the first step.
Michael:
Take a first step. Hold it in thought. But stepping into the action is really important in calling consciousness forth. Make a list.
Really, consciousness is …deliciousness with choice. And that’s a milkshake!
Theresa:
And on that note, we are out of time.
Michael:
Until next time. Namaste.
